CLOTHING STYLE.
perhaps, being one of the three co-leaders of an important organization, one would imagine that daniel would have a wardrobe to reflect his high rank. something to fit an authorial person. however, when it comes to clothing, style and fashion are hardly even things that go through his mind. really, on the average day, whatever the first thing he pulls from his drawers in the morning is what he puts on. in the end, all he really tends to wear anywhere - to work, to the store, to the living room to crash and watch cartoons all day - are t-shirts, shorts, or jeans. sometimes, if he's feeling like a simple shirt doesn't work for the situation or it's just a little chillier than usual out, he'll slap one of his few jackets over whatever he was wearing before, regardless of whether it looks good or not. in addition, one common theme a lot of his shirts have are a strange slime ghost image in the center. this was because he adored it when he found the shirts in the store and bought at least one of every color they offered. of course, this is how he gets all of his clothing. if he is attending something more formal, though, and casual wear just will not do, he does own a viridian-colored suit with a black shirt and green tie to go with it. it's pretty much one of the ugliest things ever, but he can't really bring it in himself to care.
PHYSICAL STATURE.
moving along, we get to height. depending on where you are, one person can be tall in one place and short in another. it is for this reason that, sitting at five foot nine, danny doesn't really know exactly where he sits with height, but he's average enough that he can't complain and no one's ever really bothered him about whether or not he's too short, too tall, or something else. however, he was rather short when he was younger, not really hitting a significant growth spurt until the late years in middle school and the early years of high school. as for weight, he's not exactly skinny, but he can't really be considered chubby, either. due to a lack of excersize for a while and a metabolism that's a little over par at best, he's got enough chub that his leg fat'll jiggle in a silly way if you slap it - come on, don't tel me you haven't done this to yourself, you're fooling yourself - but it's not that bad. i'd say he's about a healthy weight at best, not as skinny as most of the characters from his "animes", but. yeah. not too much chub? hm. muscles are something he's kind of lacking in, guessing as he was strong enough in his younger years, but strength has been failing him sense. maybe if he tried, he could earn more. actually, he's tried to get himself to work out more. of course, he's always forgotten by the end of the day and the cycle begins to repeat itself. he does quite a bit of running, though, even today, so perhaps he isn't too weak or lacking of too many muscles in his arms and legs.
his fingers are pretty much average. i mean, what do you want from fingers? maybe they're a tad bit on the short side, but it's hardly enough to really even make a difference in life. he always tends to chew on his finger nails when he's excited, nervous, or bored - which pretty much covers at least of a third of anyone's life - so his finger nails have been reduced to nothing but stubs. an unhealthy habit, yes, but it's not like he can really help himself. jewelry is for girls, he thinks, so he's never really worn any of that. he does, however, wear watched from time to time, but they tend to break or disappear within the month that he obtains them. while he blames this on his memory problems, this may also be because he doesn't treat them as well as he should, regardless. his shoe size is around a nine and a half, but his only current pair of tennis shoe is one size too small and tends to kill his feet if he wears them too long. as for skin tone, he's a bit on the paler side, really, the slight tans he developed from much outside activity still present, but not as vibrant as they would have been had he kept up the routine. lastly, he doesn't have too much of a noticeable accent - maybe a mixture of a lot of slight things from all of the places he visited and sometimes still goes to? - and his voice is a bit higher than most his age, but even and lowish after having gone through the perils of puberty.
HAIR & EYES.
there isn't much to say about the hair and eyes, really, guessing as neither are anything that stand out too much. starting with the hair, danny was born with black hair similar to his father's and has never dared to touch it with anything even slightly resembling hair dye. he's always liked the color, after all, and the thought of changing it would be silly and trivial. it's a bit on the longer side, guessing as he doesn't really go out of his way to cut it until his bangs are falling just above his eyes, and tends to stick up on its own. this is quite alright, though; he's been told he looks silly with it flattened down by hair products or by the natural forces of gravity and whatnot. his eyes are pretty average in size, a bit rounder than most but nothing out of the ordinary. due to a variety of factors - him reading late into the night, computer time, genes, et cetera, et cetera - he has poor enough vision that he needs to aid of glasses or contacts to see. he treats contacts like the devil, though, and has never gone a day of his life since he was given them without wearing his glasses. lastly, those eyes that they cover are as blue as the sky above our heads. and there ya' go. =w=b
Personality
i tried to write this without elaborating on traits, but i couldn't. i'm sorry. i'll just shorten the traits.
okay, let's begin, shall we? to begin with, we find that danny is a rather cheerful person overall. always the optimist about everything and trying to find whatever bright side of life he can, there's hardly ever a moment when his mood has been put in a damper. it's just too difficult for him to find anything that can make him upset and he's been in a perpetual good mood ever since the accident, maybe even since before then. he isn't afraid, either, the try and spreed his joy to the people around him, either, something others can find rather annoying, refreshing, or something completely different depending on the person. really, he's just a bundle of happiness shaped like a human being. going right along with that, we find that his next positive trait of the five today is also rather overused in the making of the dreaded "mary sue" like the one before. thankfully, i don't he'll be bad enough to make you claw out your eyes like every mary sue to ever walk the fictional earth. he's intelligent, a trait that has been passed on through his family and continues on in him. even when he was young, he was always a little above average with grades and some came to know him as an "over achiever". sadly, where book smarts end, street smarts simply cannot keep up, his knowledge of survival and the like having deteriorated after the what he refers to as the turning point in his life. regardless, what smarts he does have assist greatly in his job as a strategist, allowing him to visualize certain outcomes coming from certain courses of action more easily than others would have been able to. but enough of that. systematic is the third positive trait we'll be discussing today because... well, it's one he has! in general, he's a very organized person, always making sure everything is a neat orderly fashion as to prevent future confusion when looking for something in particular. however, organization is not the only thing that he is skilled at in reference to this trait. he is also good at mapping out courses of action for various routines, missions, and the like, literally on paper or even just in his head. always a planner, he makes sure he knows exactly what he's doing before he goes and does it which ends up benefiting him greatly in the end. in fact, he practically has an entire schedule for what he does every day of the week down to the hour. in addition to that, he's hard-working for the most part. in other words, he'll do whatever it takes to get a job done and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty from time to time if its for the benefit of hyrda, a favor for a friend, or anything else, really. he's the opposite of lazy for the most part, making sure to get things done as soon as possible and get them done right. and, while i wish to elaborate more, that's really all there is to say about that. as for the final trait i'm laying on the table for you to oogle at tonight, we find that he's devoted. what does this mean, exactly, you may be wondering? well, its simple, really. the guy's as loyal as a dog to anyone or anything that gives him a reason to and he won't hesitate to devote all of his time and work into accomplishing... well, whatever needs accomplishing. never one to get side-tracked from what is really important in his eyes, he'll follow a person or a plan or anything, really, to the end of the abyss and back if he has to. even if the universe is against him, kicking him down until his arms are broken or he suffers another traumatic head injury like the last time, he'll keep on keepin' on until it's all said and done and he can move on with his life. and that, as they say, is that.
so, now that we have the good traits about him aside, it's time to move on to the dark side of the force. also known as the dark side of me, leap. i am the force. that aside, let's begin, shall we? daniel is authoritarian, something you might not exactly expect from someone as laid back as he. however, even when he was younger, he has always had a dying need to be in charge of any and every situation he can be and simply cannot fall into the roll of a subordinate without tearing out a few tufts of his own hair, first. in a sense, he's a bit of a perfectionist, and not the good kind. if everything doesn't at least try to follow the plans he makes, he has it in his head that whatever they're doing is bound to fail and is doomed from the beginning. however, if one sticks to his plan, they're bound to get it right, right? totally. but who is honestly going to be able to stick exactly to a plan better than the one who made it? the only person he can willingly yield to without someone's nose getting broken is the vigilante, who he eagerly views as his superior and the only one who can be in charge over him. Moving along, he's a covetous little jerk, isn't he? while he'll never admit it allowed because that would be rude, on the inside, he grows insanely jealous of anyone who can best him at anything he prides himself in. let's use his plan making as an example. so, he and someone else make up two different plans for the same mission and their's just happens to be better. alright. they go with their plan and everything works out just fine. the same thing happens again, and he starts to grow weary, but doesn't think much of it. strike three? you're out. he's going to hate you behind his own back until you're gone and he can't even remember you were better than him in the first place. he gets easily jealous of things that other people around him have that he doesn't, as well, especially when it comes to memory. whenever the topic of someone's good memory comes up, he has to excuse himself from hearing distance in order to stop himself from hurting someone or himself. thirdly, he's a passive character to put it mildly. due to... certain circumstances in his history that i'll elaborate on in a moment, he has taken a non-aggression pact of sorts and has kept himself from any work that puts him in even the slightest sort of danger. part of the reason why he never goes out of his way to pick fights with anyone, aside from his generally good nature, is the fact that he is afraid of getting hurt physically in the end and tries to avoid any conflict that can't be solved with words or one of his "brilliant" plans. for this reason, he has become more of a strategist than anything else, keeping himself away from any harm as best he can. next, he's rather conceited. much like his covetous nature, this is something kept secret for the most part, though he has been known to have bouts of self confidence that go a little above normal. this raven-haired male is smart. he's smart and he comes up with pretty good plans. and he knows it. and, when it comes to bragging about it internally, he doesn't skip a beat. while he doesn't want to admit it, even to himself, he blows his own set of skills out of proportion and practically believes himself to be the best there is at the things he does, even if he knows even more deep down that he's not. while my last written down trait is along the lines of "insists on own view", i suppose it could easily be translated to "stubborn" about certain things. for the most part, he's a rather flexible character. however, when it comes to leadership as stated earlier, he won't give up without a fight, which is saying something, guessing as he is passive enough to avoid any sort of fight. basically, the bottom line is, unless you are the vigilante, you are not allowed to give him orders and expect to carry them out. and that's it. have fun in the history!
History
a long while back, perhaps a little over twenty years, a young couple of newly weds were struggling to survive off low incomes and a variety of factors they could not control. they certainly had no room in their budget for a third member of the family, with hardly enough to support themselves. however, as fate would have it, a third member was what they got regardless. perhaps it would have been better to off the child in the first place; abortion was pricey, but less so than caring for the child, correct? however, in the end, they decided to simply give their unborn child away once it was born, to at least give it a chance at life and hope it did something great. this is where the story of daniel grant parks begins. as soon as the mother and child were discharged from the hospital, the young boy was given to his grandmother on his father's side, a kindly old woman who owned a pokemon ranch somewhere not too far off from jubilife city in sinnoh. this was where the boy would spend most of his life, surrounded by acres and acres of land filled with his grandmother's pokemon and the ones they watched for others and love of the only family member who seemed to care. during his early childhood, his parents would make it a point to visit him a handful of times a month, promising that when they had the money they could take him home. however, as was made painfully apparent over time, these were empty promises and the two slowly disappeared from his life. not that it really mattered, though; he and his guardian were closer than he would have ever been with them, and he honestly preferred it there on the ranch.
as he grew up over the years, the boy was a bit too head strong for his own good. always throwing himself into potentially dangerous "adventures" and facing everything dead on as though he thought himself invincible. and perhaps a little part of him did. after all, he managed to escape tough scenarios with a cut, a couple bruises, and, on rare occasions, a mild break. they were all temporary, anything, nothing that could effect him long term. it was for this reasons that, a few months away from his seventeenth birthday, he threw himself into an impossible situation and expected to walk out of it just fine. cars were rare. they always had been, guessing as many people walked everywhere, but some of the more wealthy folk owned them when it came to travelling long distances or through harsh terrain. due to the long road it took to arrive and leave the ranch, sometimes people would opt to drive up the "drive way" rather than jog it like usual. of course, they were rare enough that some of the younger pokemon had never been warned to be weary while playing on the road; for this reason, it wasn't the infant pokemon's fault for scampering across the gravel in the presence of an oncoming car. you know those movies where the hero throws himself in front of the oncoming danger in order to protect the innocents, right?
he always did love those movies.
the pocket monster was spared, perhaps a scratch or two from the rocks, but nothing major. daniel, himself didn't suffer to much damage. however, he suffered severe injuries to the hippocampus, a section of the brain dealing with short-term and long-term memory, as well as spatial navigation. this lead to a condition known as anterograde amnesia, a type of amnesia retaining all long-term memory from before the accident that caused it, but prohibiting or bringing the entire ability to recall events afterward to a stop. in other words, whatever he did one day would be completely forgotten the next. guessing as he was still in school at the time - a little over half way done with his junior year - this made things very difficult on him. he was still a bright young lad, one of the smartest in his grade, but his memory problems led to confusion with school work and whatnot. in the end, his grandmother chose to remove him from his school and jubilife and attempt to teach him herself. after all, she knew him best and assumed she would know the best way to educate him without him loosing it all the next day. things were still difficult, no doubt, but it ended up working out better than expected.
things began to look up for him when, while visiting one of jubilife's libraries, he stumbled across lydia warman, a beautiful young woman who worked there part time in order to raise funds for her college studies. while she was a year older than him, he only being eighteen, it was as close to one of those cheesy "love at first sight" things as one could get. well, more like he found her interesting, befriended her, and slowly started to fall for her over the next month or so. while he had difficulties remembering her at first, she helped him come up with the idea of writing down everything important in journals, that way he could read about what he'd done the day before if he ever forgot and wouldn't have to "meet her for the first time" every time they crossed paths. after a while, he finally gathered to courage to ask her out on a date. and then another. and another. and this was where their love story began. it was difficult - ever since the accident, almost everything was difficult - but they lasted almost two years and things were only looking like they were going to get better. deciding that this was the girl he wanted to marry, he set up a plan to, well, ask for her hand in marriage. that night, he invited her to dinner. however, before he even had the chance to get down on one knee, she confessed that she didn't quite think she could handle the relationship much longer and broke it off, wishing him luck in his life and apologizing for keeping it up so long, only to quit.
distraught, he all but burned every journal he'd kept from the time she introduced him to the practice, and with it, vital memories from his past. this, fortunately, lastly roughly three months when fate had it's only cruel way of forcing him back into habit. one day, upon returning home, he found his grandmother fainted on the floor and in obvious pain. apparently, upon calling the hospital and getting her the assistance she needed, she had suffered a severe heart attack that had been inevitable due to her deteriorating health. she didn't last three days longer than that. after a week of waking up every morning and discovering "for the first time" again that the one person he had left in his life had passed away, he returned to the habit of writing everything down in journals and took up the ranch from where she left off. due to an accident involving a gust of wind and his papers flying away from him, he also opted to recording himself leave notes about his day or recording important conversations to play over for himself later as well as writing down the less important things. when he was roughly a few months past twenty-years-old, he returned to the ranch only to find it destroyed, as well as the neighboring areas and the city he'd grown up by. traumatized, he ended up joining hydra in order to avenge the place that held his grandmother's dream.
out of fear of another life-impacting injury like the one in his teen years, the man swore his life to a more passive approach and became more of a strategist than someone who went out in the field and beat the crud out of stuff. despite his brain injury, he was still as smart if not more so than in his childhood and his seemingly ingenious courses of action for going about missions and whatnot helped him climb in ranks until he was accepted as the second leader of the group. now twenty-one, he has dedicated his life to saving the regions and the people from the horrors that are the members of immortalis.
